Lalela’s holiday programmes are fundamental to our mission of sparking creative thinking and awakening the entrepreneurial spirit in our learners while providing safe spaces during the long school breaks. Days of planning go into the creation of exciting curriculums and activities for Lalela learners, with the intention of keeping them happily occupied as well as stimulated…
Across all Lalela’s programmes during the March school holidays, our young artists had a joyful – and educational – time with their friends and classmates. Our main holiday programme curriculum took its cue from Human Rights Day, which was marked earlier in the month. The programme included guided play-time as well as an array of art-making activities leading up to exhibitions and even processions to show off their beautiful creations as proud active citizens.

All through the week, learners worked in groups with their friends to make colourful lanterns and posters to shine a light on children’s rights – a creative as well as empowering exercise for Lalela’s young artists.

There was an extra special treat in store for learners attending our programme at Zeitz MOCAA. Our holiday workshop was generously hosted by the V&A Waterfront at its fantastic Maker’s Landing premises, which proved an inspiring venue for a week of art-making and other joyful activities.
A special shoutout to all our tireless facilitators, volunteers and Lalela friends who helped to pull off a successful, jam-packed and super exciting March holiday programme!
