Heritage Day Celebrations with Lalela

Heritage Day at Freedom Square in Bonteheuwel brought together Lalela learners and youth from the community to celebrate the day. The event provided an opportunity for young people to connect with their heritage and express themselves through interactive activities such as dance, art and discussions that highlighted the importance of cultural diversity.
The energetic dance challenges were a big hit, with participants showing off their skills and drawing cheers from the crowd.
The day also featured an art-making session where young people created art pieces that represented their understanding of heritage and traditions. Their artworks told stories of families and their communities, showcasing the richness and diversity of the Bonteheuwel community.

At Lalela, we believe in the power of art to transform lives – through art young people share their experiences and dreams. Events like these help learners make the connection between creativity and heritage and deepening their understanding of the diverse world around them.
A big thank you to everyone who contributed to making this Heritage Day celebration so special!
