This special edition collection features unisex t-shirts and hoodies featuring designs by Lalela learners. The artwork reflects the imaginative adventures of young minds, drawing inspiration from the book series written by 11-year-old author and H&M Role Model, Bontle, who is from Pretoria.

All proceeds from the Role Models collection will flow directly to Lalela’s after school educational art programmes, supporting its mission to unlock the creative potential of young people and provide them with a pathway to a brighter future. The collection has been  available from 24 September at H&M Centurion and 26 September at H&M Canal Walk.

“At Lalela, we believe that creativity is a powerful tool for change, and this partnership with H&M South Africa allows us to showcase the incredible talent and vision of our students,” said Firdous Hendricks, Executive Director at Lalela. “The Role Models collection is a testament to what happens when young people are given the chance to express themselves.”

The global H&M Role Models initiative, launched in 2021, spotlights young changemakers making a positive impact. In South Africa, the campaign raises awareness about the country’s literacy crisis through Bontle’s inspiring story and her adventure books. H&M has reprinted her latest book, Nyla and the Magician, and translated it into multiple languages, increasing access to local literature for young learners.

“We are incredibly proud to partner with Lalela for our Role Models collection,” said Caroline Nelson, H&M South Africa Country Manager. “This collaboration celebrates the imagination and creativity of children, showing the power of the arts to inspire hope and help young people dream big.”
