In a significant collaboration enabling young people from under-resourced communities to thrive, Lalela and the Tomorrow Trust have joined forces to expand the reach and impact of our respective initiatives. This partnership is a natural fit and harnesses the strengths of both organisations to facilitate the process for all youth to access productive opportunities for their benefit.

Empowering Collaboration: Lalela and the Tomorrow Trust

The Tomorrow Trust, established in 2005 as a non-profit organisation, focuses on providing support to orphaned and vulnerable children as well as youth. The organisation implements comprehensive educational programmes that guide youth from the playground to their chosen professions.

The core of their educational programmes encompasses academic advancement, psychosocial support and development, career guidance, access to digital opportunities, and the cultivation of social and academic competencies for young people.

The Tomorrow Trust’s holistic educational approach and Lalela’s work in providing educational arts to awaken creativity and the entrepreneurial spirit in young people, acts as a catalyst for change, playing a crucial role in fulfilling the vision of nurturing conscious leaders for a better tomorrow.

A Catalyst for Change: Fulfilling the Vision of Supporting Leaders of Tomorrow

The Tomorrow Trust and Lalela partnership started in June this year when the two organisations met at Philippi Village to share their work and vision.

The Tomorrow Trust’s Zukani Metshane explained: “All we wanted was to work together to build a better tomorrow for our children. We started this partnership because of the mutual vision and understanding that art can bring people from different backgrounds together. Some people use art as their voice and to be heard. We wanted to give our students access to the platform that Lalela provides so that they can learn and enhance their existing skills for a greater good.”

Metshane said that the youth from the Tomorrow Trust who participate in the educational art sessions that Lalela provides, have gained invaluable art and social skills.

“Since we have Lalela sessions with our students, there has been a massive development in their understating of art and growth in terms of sharing, respect, discipline and communication. This partnership has made a huge difference in the lives of our students. To see how they can open up and talk about their feelings and to be supportive to others regardless of their background or not being from the same location, has been one of the partnership’s successes.”

The partnership between Lalela and Tomorrow Trust is a testament to the shared commitment to making a positive difference in the lives of young people in under-resourced communities. By combining our efforts, Lalela and the Tomorrow Trust are creating a powerful synergy that promises a brighter future for the youth we serve. Together, we hope to transform futures and pave the way for a generation of creative, entrepreneurial and self-assured leaders.
