VACANCY: FEMALE EMPOWERMENT FACILITATOR, WESTERN CAPE

Lalela provides educational arts for youth from under-resourced communities to spark creative thinking and awaken the entrepreneurial spirit. As a leader in arts education in South Africa, we are seeking a dedicated Female Empowerment Facilitator to join our team full-time.

Purpose of Role:

The Female Empowerment Facilitator will oversee and facilitate Lalela’s Female Empowerment Programme with Grade 8 girls, ensuring the delivery of key messaging and desired outcomes. The role also involves contributing to the development of the programme’s curriculum.

Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate female empowerment workshops in Masiphumelele, Hout Bay, and Mowbray, Cape Town.
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of workshops, including student attendance, supplies, budget, safety, and transport.
  • Plan and execute School Holiday Programmes, independent outings, and events, overseeing logistics such as venues, volunteers, and materials.
  • Contribute to Lalela’s Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) system.
  • Handle administrative duties, including monthly and quarterly reports, attendance registers, artwork documentation, and classroom photography.
  • Provide content for Lalela’s blog, newsletter, and social media, identifying success stories and content opportunities.
  • Implement Lalela’s facilitation methodology, prepare curriculum materials, and manage resource allocation.
  • Maintain communication with the Programme Manager and Cape Town HQ, ensuring alignment with Lalela’s vision and mission.
  • Build and maintain partnerships, including establishing protocols, coordinating shared spaces and transport, and writing reports.
  • Strengthen relationships with participating schools, teachers, principals, parents, and other organisations.
  • Develop curriculum resources in collaboration with the Executive Director.
  • Develop curriculum resources for the programme, together with the Executive Director.

Requirements:

  • This role is open to female candidates only, due to the nature of the programme.
  • Strong commitment to gender equality and youth development in South Africa.
  • Proven experience in facilitation methodology and experiential learning.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in the sector (experience in NGOs or youth development is an advantage).
  • Residing in Cape Town.
  • Computer literacy (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint essential).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Own vehicle and a valid driver’s license required.
  • As Lalela is a visual arts-based organisation, an artistic or design background is advantageous.
