We are celebrating the incredible success of Pamela Ndlovu, a Lalela alumna from our Maboneng programme in Johannesburg, who recently graduated with a Bachelor of Science Honours degree in Geography.
Pamela spent her formative years in the heart of Johannesburg before moving to Rosettenville in late 2023. She joined Lalela in 2016 while in Grade 9, and although her attendance was cut short by a school change, she remained connected to the programme and its facilitators.
Growing in confidence through creativity
Pamela fondly remembers Lalela’s art classes and excursions, which allowed her to explore her love of creativity and adventure, and form lasting friendships with fellow learners.
Initially unsure of her art skills, Pamela says Lalela helped her embrace her unique expression and build the confidence to be herself. “All art is beautiful,” she recalls learning; these are words that continue to influence her outlook on life.
Pamela’s road to graduation wasn’t easy. It took five years of resilience and determination to earn her degree. “I’d been falling down and getting back up,” she reflects. “But I never gave up.”
After high school, Pamela pursued a science path, majoring in geography, geology, and chemistry—but her creativity found a new outlet in landscape photography. Through this practice, she reconnects with nature and expresses the artistry in the world around her.
Her Instagram page, @thelandscape24, showcases the natural beauty of South Africa and reflects her artistic expression.
Pamela’s path may still be unfolding, but her message is clear: stay true to who you are, love what you do, and inspire others to dream big.
“I want to be on the right path, have a good life, love art, and inspire those coming behind me to achieve greater things.”
