Souljourn Yoga Retreat in Cape Town

October 01, 2022

At the start of 2020 we had the wonderful opportunity to introduce Lalela’s Female Empowerment girls to the many benefits of yoga, thanks to Souljourn Yoga and AORA who brought a group of yoginis to South Africa for a one-of-a-kind wellness retreat during our pre-Covid summer.

And we therefore couldn’t be more delighted to share the news that these extraordinary organisations are once again planning a special Art & Yoga Retreat in Cape Town in February 2023 – all the more so as they will be raising funds to benefit our Female Empowerment programme.

Honestly, #blessed doesn’t even begin to describe how we feel!

These are the need-to-know details, so please share with your yoga tribe – it’s all for the best cause!

ART & YOGA RETREAT

Where: CAPE TOWN, SOUTH AFRICA

When: February 18 – 25, 2023

Souljourn Yoga and AORA  invite you on an unforgettable retreat to the gorgeous, culturally abundant, and truly magical place that is Cape Town, South Africa. Led by founder of Souljourn Yoga, Jordan Ashley and curator & co-founder of AORA, Jenn Ellis, the retreat is a unique blend of movement, art, architecture, food & more.

Commencing your stay in a private modernist villa in Kalk Bay, we’ll start each morning with yoga and a delicious, plant-based breakfast made by our very own private vegan chef Arabella of Eat to Thrive. From private gallery visits and hiking table mountain to snorkeling with Cape fur seals, surfing, and two nights in Stellenbosch, the winelands of South Africa, you will be guided by Saffa Tours on a journey that encourages exploration, creativity, and serenity all against the backdrop of this beautiful coastal city.

Crucially, this retreat is honored to have partnered with Lalela Project (a Zulu word that means to “listen”) that uses an arts curriculum to ignite imagination and teach children how to map and manifest their dreams and goals, launching the possibility of a different future for themselves and their communities in townships and inner city youths. Our retreat participants will be volunteering with their Female Empowerment Program with three opportunities to create, connect, and be inspired by these amazing young women through art and movement.

We are truly honoured ourselves! Please click here to find out more about the retreat and book your spot on the mat!

And finally, these are the beautiful words shared by Jordan following our unforgettable experience in 2020:

“Being able to share two wonderful days of art and yoga workshops with the ever-inspiring Female Empowerment students of Lalela was to me what the yoga practice is all about– connection, union, and togetherness. Seeing such strong, independent young women proves that female empowerment knows no borders or boundaries which is why South Africa and the world at-large better get ready for the next generation of leaders!” – Jordan Ashley, Souljourn Yoga

Thank you, Jordan and Jenn! We can’t wait to see you next year.
